B6200 oil seal change

Even though i checked it out i missed a few things but hey when you buy a old piece of equipment you should expect it.

Well after cutting the grass a few times i noticed hydraulic oil on the left rear axle.
Here is a picture showing where marked with a circle.

Now i want to give credit to the forum and to a few members. Vic who has made the videos and Wolfman for his continuous untiring response to sometimes duplicate questions.

Vic's advise to new owners mentioned going over your old tractor and fully servicing it.
I took Vic's advise to heart and ordered, new hoses for radiator, new screen for hydraulic fluid , even new thermostat , new oil, fuel, air and hydraulic filters, and while i was at it used the workshop manual to see what the potential cause of the oil i was seeing was.
Not having ever worked on a tractor before, i ordered a seal for the axle as well as the seal located behind the brake shoes in this housing.
I concluded that if the inner oil seal was leaking i best order new brake shoes and gasket for that housing. Coleman worked very well for me and so did replacement parts on ebay.

Thanks to Wolfman i ordered new tires for both front and rear, for front i ordered from Miller via ebay and rear i managed to get Carlisle locally.
My old tires were filled with windscreen washer fluid, despite the Kubota manuals saying the lawn tires should not be filled, would love to hear comments on this because after just having cut grass for first time since my service and tire change, it certainly bounced around.

So when i opened the side brake housing below you can see the mess. This is after the flood of oil poured out.

To take the leaking seal out i used the self tapping screw method

To get to this seal you need to remove the brake drum then it reveals itself.

Here is my fix and by the way i tapped the new seal home with a tube of water pipe.

Put new brake shoes in

Then again thanks to Vic cleaning the air filter housing turned into a bit of a project. Here is what came out of the lid once i got two compartments apart

I still have a fair bit i want to do to this tractor but it will have to wait till next summer.

Hope something here helps someone the way posts here have helped me.

Product Description

Basic information:

Oil seal is often called grease, fluid, dirt or lip seals. Oil seal is an integral part in any rotating and moving part assembly. They close spaces between stationary and moving components in mechanical equipment. In most applications, the seal is either partially or temporarily immersed or is simply exposed to splashing lubricant, particularly in engines, transmissions, gearboxes or axles. They are vital components of almost every type of machine and vehicle in operation. An oil seal normally consists of three basic components: The Sealing Element (the nitrile rubber part), the Metal Case, and the Spring. It is a widely used sealing component. The function of a seal is to prevent the leakage of medium along the moving parts.
